“Made in the USA” has long been a slogan used for everything from cars to industrial supplies. It evokes pride in our country and its global leadership. It can mean:

- Innovative
- Reliable
- Economically beneficial
- Providing jobs
- Sustaining our manufacturing capabilities
- Environmentally beneficial
- Fair to labor
- National trade balanced
At Innovent, a “Made in the USA” company, our CNC machining, welding, electromechanical box build, and test services are being used in Semiconductor, Nanotechnology, Optics, Robotics, Life Sciences and the Medical Industries. Every day we are enhancing our custom machining capacity, cleanroom capabilities and process controls to ensure that we meet our customers delivery demands and to ensure that quality is never compromised.
That is not necessarily the case in other parts of the world. Restoring much of our supply chain and manufacturing capabilities to the USA makes sense for several reasons right now. Given our current situation with COVID-19, having outsourced suppliers that are not in proximity means parts may not be delivered on time due to delays in getting materials and receiving completed parts and assemblies.
It has been our experience lately with many suppliers that communication can be poor with any “late delivery” news coming well into the procurement process and creating havoc with our production schedules. Also, the cost of shipping products has skyrocketed. These costs inevitably need to be passed on to the customer. The cost of shipping any defective material or components must be accounted for in our pricing model. All this starts making “Made in the USA” even more attractive.
We’re not saying that procuring goods and services overseas should be eliminated; that’s not practical. We recognize that it is a global economy, and in certain cases there are advantages. However, during this difficult time, Manufacturing in America is often a better option and secures steady, well-paid careers in local service-oriented companies like Innovent Technologies, LLC that are in extremely high demand right now.
